My dad’s homemade crisps

Here is my dad’s first recipe! My dad loves gardening and he especially likes blue potatoes! I know it looks strange, but these potatoes are actually very nice and they taste like the normal “yellow” ones. As he likes homemade things, he just thought he would try to do his own crisps. And although it doesn’t look like the normal crisps you would buy, the result is very good!! You could also do the same with other vegetables (like carrots or sweet potatoes). So here is how you do your own crisps :

Serves 6-8

Ingredients :

  • 1 kg potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1,5 l oil (we used sunflower oil)
  • salt and pepper (or any other spice you like)

Method :

1. Peel and cut your potatoes. Make sure your slices are thin enough.

2. Fry your potatoes in hot oil until they look slightly brown and hard. Put them on the side on a plate, between two sheets of kitchen roll (it will absorb the oil a little bit) for a little while. When all the potatoes are done, fry them all over again but for a shorter time. This is what will make your crisps even crispier. Put the salt and pepper on your crisps and give it a good shake. It’s ready!!!
